After protests, the US Congress puts off piracy bill

WASHINGTON: Caving to a massive campaign by the Internet service and their millions of users, Congress indefinitely deferred legislation Friday to stop the online piracy of movies and music cost US companies billions of dollars each year, surrendered to the massive campaign by the Internet service and its users.

Critics say the Bill will lead to Internet censorship and stifle Innovation.

The death, at least for now, anti-piracy Bill was a clear victory for the Silicon Valley of Hollywood, which has been campaigning to respond strictly online piracy. The legislation will also cover the counterfeiting of drugs and car parts.
