LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com)-The Motion Picture and Television Fund (MPTF) will soon begin to recognize people for long term care unit at its campus Wasserman in Woodland Hills, the organisation said on Wednesday.
The announcement represents a triumph for grass-roots groups, Saving the Lives of Our Own, which has been agitating for the last three years for facilities for opening the door for new patients.
After announcing plans to close the facility in 2009, MPTF stopped admitting new patients. Facing a fierce public pressure of the campus population, patients and their families, the MPTF closures last year abandoned his plans.
However, the administrators said they would not admit new resident until they find other health service providers to partner with to share the burden of administration and finance to keep a long-term care unit is open.
The number of patients has shrunk from almost 150 when it first announced plans for closing the patient only 29.
